Sebastian, a professional bodyboarder and yoga instructor, wrote Ashes in the Ocean, a riveting memoir telling the story of living in the shadow of his father’s suicide, facing his fears, and choosing a different path. He came to me with a first draft, and we worked together to develop and refine his manuscript through developmental editing and revision support. Finally, we ran production. His book is available in print and e-book format since March 2018. Becoming an author has created multiple speaking opportunities for Sebastian, and since releasing his memoir, Sebastian has been sharing his story to a wide range of audiences. He has also been featured on a variety of media including National Public Radio, Fox 5 News, the San Diego Union-Tribune, and numerous podcasts.
For years I dreamed of the day when I would hold a physical copy of my book Ashes in the Ocean in my hands. I imagined what it would be like to run my fingers over the cover and turn through the pages. I'm happy to say that this dream has been realized. In fact, the book is on the desk next to me as I write this. Of course, taking an idea and rough draft and turning it into a finished product that you are proud of is no easy task. Bethany and her team guided me through the process step by step, from coaching, to editing, to design. I would highly recommend Bethany to anyone wanting to make their dream become a reality.
